Education officer absent for 45 days: Pry teachers suffering in Khansama UZ

Important works including salaries , other bills disbursement , execution of transfer and joining order in Khansama upazila under Dinajpur district are being hampered due to virtual absence of the upazila primary education officer since March 25.
Amid this situation, other officials of the upazila primary education office are allegedly harassing the teachers and staff to realise bribe, alleged the teachers and staff.
The teachers and staff of 140 primary schools in Khansama upazila submitted a memorandum to the district primary education officer on Thursday demanding an end to their harassment.
They alleged that Md Azmal Hossain, Assistant Upazila Education Officer in Khansama upazila, is harassing them in absence of his boss.
Shah Alam Bulbul, Headmaster of Khansama Model Primary School, also president of Khansama upazila unit of Bangladesh Primary School Teachers Association, categorically said about the harassment. Azmal Hossain, however refuted the allegation.
Nurul Amin, Khansama upazila primary education officer, was transferred on March 25 and Ziasmin Akter was posted there on April 20.
She joined the district primary education office in Dinajpur but took leave till April 30 for family reasons. On April 30, she again appeared at the office, signed her salary sheets and got medical leave till May 20.
Despite repeated attempts, this correspondent failed to contact her as her mobile phone was found switched off.
Md Anwar Hossain, District Primary Education Officer of Dinajpur, said, “I got a memorandum from teachers and staff of primary schools in Khansama upazila and assured them of seeing the matter.”

Barisal Cadet College secured the top position in Barisal Board in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations this year with attaining 91 points.
Barisal Government Girls’ High School clinched the second position with 86.72 points, Barisal Zila School secured the third position with 83.92 points, Srijanee Bidyaniketan, Dumki, Patuakhali came up at fourth with 81.82 points and Jhalakathi Government Boys’ Secondary School obtained the fifth position with 75.48 points.
Patuakhali Government Girls’ High School got the sixth position with 74.29 points, Taslima Memorial Academy, Patharghata, Barguna got the seventh position with 73.78 points, Barisal Model School and College obtained the eighth position with 73.49 points, Pirojpur Government Secondary School secured the ninth position with 73.15 points and Pirojpur Government Girls’ School came up with 10th position with 71.31 points.
