A head teacher of primary school was allegedly beaten to death over land dispute in Atghoria upazila of Pabna district on Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Ashraf Ali, 45, son of Abdul Pramanik of Moheshpur village.
Ashraf Ali was the head teacher of Fulbaria Primary School and also worked as general secretary of the upazila primary teachers’ council.
Hossain Ali, son of the victim, told the media that his father had a land dispute with a neighbour named Afzal Hossain.
During an altercation over the land dispute, Afzal hit his father yesterday morning and at one stage he (Afzal) beat Ashraf Ali indiscriminately with a stick leaving his father dead on the spot.
Rakibul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Atghoria Police Station confirming the matter to the media said that a police team had been sent to the spot. Details will be known after investigation.
The body has been sent to a hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
