Pry students to be brought under govt’s stipend prog

Minister for Primary and Mass Education Mostafizur Rahman on Saturday said if the number of students in any primary school stands below 35, those would be integrated with a nearby school.
He said all primary school students would be brought under the government’s stipend programme. No student would remain outside the programme since the month of November, he added.
He said this in response to a question from journalists after inaugurating digital ‘Campaign for Change’ organized by Bangladesh Forum at Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Presided over by Bangladesh Forum President MK Rana Chowdhury, the function was also addressed by Prof Ali Ashraf, MP, FMCCI Director Amin Helali, Dhaka University Sociology Professor Dr. Zinat Huda and Chittagong (South) District Awami League Joint
General Secretary Shahjada Mohiuddin, among others.
The minister said no school can run well without adequate students. So, the schools having less than 35 students would be linked with their respective nearby school to create an environment for education, he added.
He said all vulnerable school buildings would be repaired, he said, adding that the renovation of dilapidated school buildings has already started.
The minister said so far, 12 schools have been visited in Dhaka and the lowest amount of Taka 40 thousand and the highest amount of Taka 10 lakh were allocated for renovation of the schools.
The speakers said the youth are the future of the country and they will play a role to develop a digital Bangladesh to materialize Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s dream of a ‘Sonar Bangla’.
