The assistant teachers of government primary schools continued their work abstention programme for the consecutive three days across the country on Thursday for the realisation of upgrading their grade from 14th to the 11th under the National Pay Scale.
They will attend the grand rally scheduled to be held in Dhaka on October 23 if their demand is not met, said the leaders of Bangladesh Primary School Teachers Alliance Council.
Earlier on Wednesday, the teachers observed a half-day long work abstention programme.
In 2015, government increased the salary of assistant teachers from Tk 5,200 to Tk 10,200 as per the 14th grade of the 8th National Pay Scale.
According to the Primary and Mass Education Ministry, the number of government primary schools and teachers is 65,593 and 349,217 in the country at present.
