Primary school’s assistant teachers on Tuesday urged the government to declare their jobs permanent immediately.
The teachers on Tuesday formed a human chain in this regard in front of the National Press Club in the capital. Primary assistant teachers’ appointment panel 2018 implementation committee, an organization of the teachers, formed the human chain.
“We have been working at secondary level schools without any salary for the last 26 months. This is quite disappointing. In the Mujib Borsho, we request the government to make our jobs permanent on humanitarian ground,” said Md Ruhul Amin, President of the organization.
He claimed that Deputy Education
Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury promised on February 13 last year to execute their demands.
Nearly, 5,200 assistant teachers for English, Math and Science were employed for three years since 2015 to improve the quality of education across Bangladesh, Ruhul Amin said.
Hundreds of teachers who passed the government primary school recruitment test took part in the programme.
The teachers vowed to continue their demonstration until they get the result.
Zakir Hossain, one of the protesters, said that about 55,000 teachers cleared the written exams for appointment at government primary schools in 2018, among them only 18,147 were appointed.
They urged the government to appoint the rest of them as there are many vacancies at primary schools are remaining, the teachers added.
