The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Kurigram issued summon on Thursday evening to the national Bengali daily ‘Protham Alo’ Editor Matiur Rahman and photo-journalist Majid Khan alleging hit and instigate to religious sentiment and ordered them to attend physically before the court on November 9 this year.
Kurigram Public Prosecutor Adv SM Abraham Lincoln said, President of Kurigram district unit of Bangabandhu Projanmo Legue Adv Shakhawat Hossain filed a CR case with the court against Matiur Rahman and Majid Khan on Thursday according to sections of penal code 295, 295 (ka) and 298 alleging hit and instigate to religious sentiment.
Complainant of the case Adv Shakhawat Hossain said the case was filed as a mock cartoon was published in ‘Alpin’ of the Protham Alo in 2007 taking Mahanabi Hazrat Mohammad (SM), meaning of Ayat-27 of Sura Bakara in the Al-Quran was disfigured and harsh words about Mahanabi (SM) in ‘Rash Alo’ on March 11 in 2013 and the fabricated photos of female voters with red-lead (Shindur) were published in Protham Alo on January 6 this year.
After hearing on the case, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim Sarkar issued summon to the Bengali daily ‘Protham Alo’ Editor Matiur Rahman and photo journalist Majid Khan to attend physically before the court on November 9 this year, Adv Shakhawat Hossain said.
