An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) succumbed to his injuries on early Wednesday after beaten by activists of Jubo League on Tuesday afternoon.
The dead victim was identified as Sakir Gomosta, 17, a HSC student of Palordi School and College and son of Aiub Ali Gomosta from Ashukathi of Gounadi municipal area.
Manirul Islam, officer in charge of Gournadi police station, said Aleya Begum, mother of the killed victim, lodged a murder case in this connection against 12 accused including 6 by-name on Wednesday.
Till this report none was arrested and officials of law enforcing agencies visited the sport, he added.
Students, teachers of the institution on Wednesday noon forming human chain in the campus protesting the killing demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
Prince Bepari, secretary of municipal unit of BCL, acknowledging the facts said Sakir was an activist of BCL.
Police and witnesses said Sohel Gomosta, Riaz Khan, Ilias Khan, Sumon Haoladar, Emran Mir, and Fahim, local activists of Jubo League, rebuked teachers of the institution over their role against eve teasing and drug addiction on Tuesday morning.
At that time Sakir supporting the teachers engaged in altercation with the JL activists.
Following that incident the JL activists attacked Sakir on way to home at noon and mercilessly beat him.
