Agitated local people and relatives of a minor domestic help, who was allegedly murdered after being raped by the son of a government official, staged a demonstration, with the body, in front of the Kafrul Police Station.
They also brought the body with them and blockaded the road from Shewrapara Bus Stand to the Dhaka Cantonment on Monday afternoon.
The protesters seized the Kafrul Police Station earlier in the morning to arrest the killers immediately.
Police dispersed the protesters around 1:45pm. Later, the body was taken to a local graveyard for burial, police said.
The victim, Jania Begum, 12, was allegedly raped, killed and thrown off from the rooftop of a residential quarter of NAM officials in Mirpur-13 on Sunday night.
Housemaid Jania’s father Osman Gani filed the case against three
people on Monday afternoon. The accused are Jonia’s employer Ahsan Habib, his wife Naznin Akhter and their son Rummon Bin Ahsan for the death of his daughter. Ahsan is the chairman and director of the National Freedom Fighters’ Council. In the case, Osman accused Rummon of raping and murdering his daughter.
He also claimed that some powerful locals took away Jania’s body to Shawrapara graveyard with the help of the police without their permission. The body has been kept in the graveyard.
Osman said: “Jania was working at the house of Ahsan Habib as her mother Phul Banu’s replacement for some days.
He also claimed that police were not willing to take the case instantly because house owner Ahsan Habib is the leader of the National Freedom Fighters’ Council.
Fulbanu, mother of the victim, said she was a domestic help at flat 403-B, building-3 of NAM Garden and she sent her daughter to work at the house as she was sick for several days.
Later, on Sunday, morning police called her to come to that house and she found her daughter dead with several injuries on her body.
She claimed Jania was raped and killed by the son of a government official for whom she used to work. Later, he threw out her dead body from the rooftop.
Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shikdar Mohammad Shamim Hossain said: “The autopsy has been completed and we have detained the lift man and the security guard of the house in connection with the incident.”
In the inquest report, police mentioned that there was blood in Jania’s right hand and nose, and black spots on the knees and under the breasts.
On the same night of the incident, police filed an unnatural death case in this connection.
