Assaults of DU students: Protest sparks, punishment demanded

Protest by the students of Dhaka University (DU) has been sparked on the campus centering the assault of fellows by a section of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men in residential hall.
They have demanded the highest punishment of the attackers for their heinous torture as early as possible.
Fellows of the victims block Shahbagh intersection but police foiled their program.
However, the, pointed the figures over safety issue, later claimed that any student may fall to death like Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad who was also brutally tortured to death by the BCL men for his suspected involvement with Bangladesh Islami Chhtra Shibir.
Apart from this, several hundred students of the Tourism and Hospitality Management Department at DU brought out a procession on the campus on Thursday protesting against the torture of four BCL leaders at Zahurul Haque Hall.
They also demanded the exemplary punishment of the BCL men.
Later, around 400 students brought out a procession from the Faculty of Business Studies and marched through main points of the campus. They ended their procession in front of Raju’s sculpture, where Mukim Chowdhury, one of the victims and a second-year student of Tourism and Hospitality Management has been observing a sit-in protest since Wednesday.
