Bangladesh Shipping Corporation Sea-men’s Association, Chittagong held a peaceful protest rally at BSC Bhaban premises in the port city on Wednesday with its President Sirajul Islam in the chair.
The protest rally demanded payment of compensation money of Tk.15 lakh, deductions from salary as CF fund from 800 seamen of Tk. 10 crores and arrear salary and allowances of seamen of MV Banglar Doot, Banglar Gourab and Banglar urmi vessel amounting to Tk.50 lakhs by next 24 Septmber next otherwise 4 hours work shutdown will be enforced on September 25 next at BSC head office and all BSC vesels.
The protest rally also demanded the stopping of selling out the BSC vessels and procurement of new 10 vessels immediately for saving the employment of 400 seamen. Mentionable that BSC Sea Men Assocn earlier gave ultimatum upto September 15 last for payment of all arrear dues in a letter sent to BSC on September 1 lst but the authority yet to fulfill their demands.
The speakers in the protest rally urged the concerned minister to remove the corrupt and unskilled officials from BSC for interest of the organistawtion .
