A protest meeting was held on journalist torture at Jamalpur District Press Club Auditorium recently .
The protest meeting was chaired by Fazle Elahi Makam, Acting President of Jamalpur District Press Club and SA TV Correspondent.
Among others, senior journalists Utpal Kanti Dhar, General Secretary of the District Press Club Mukul Rana (Dinkal), Adv Yousuf Ali (Daily Jaijaidin), Md Sultan Alam (News Today), Shuvro Mehdi (Bangladesh Praridin/ DBC News), Shoaib Hossain (Jamuna TV/Desh Rupantar), Tanvir Azad Mamun (News Twenty-Four TV), Shamim Alam (My TV), Juwel Rana (Bijay TV), Tanvir Ahmed Hira (Deepito TV) and others were presnt in the meeting.
Speakers of News Twenty-Four also protested the terrorist attacks on staff reporter Fakhrul Islam and senior cameraman Sheikh Jalal, demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for the culprits.
On the other hand, a separate protest meeting was organised by Melandah Reporters’ Unity in the event of journalist torture. Shah Jamal, president of the reporters unity and correspondent of Ittefaq / New Nation / Ekaterin TV presided over the protest meeting .
Vice President of the Unity Fazlul Karim (Asiabani / Nakshi Bangla TV), Joint Secretary Masud Rana (Jamalpur Dinakal), Organising Secretary Mottasim Billah (Business Bangladesh) and Finance Affairs Zillur Rahman Ratan (Protidener Songbad) were present in the programme.
The meeting expressed concern over the safety of journalists as there was no trial of journalist torture.
