Kurigram Correspondent :
Some thousands of men and women formed a human chain by the side of the river Teesta at Bazra area under Ulipur upazila in Kurigram in the morning on Friday demanding protection of river erosion. The houses of more than one hundred families of six villages including Bazra, Sadua damar hatghat, Khamardamar hatghat have been eroded within the last two weeks. About two hundred acres of cropland have already been devoured here. Four educational institutes, mosque, Bazar and other establishments are being threatened. The gulping river Teesta is eroding decorated houses, cropland, and trees here every year and forcing a good number of people to be homeless and landless. They have demanded to the government to take necessary action to protect river erosion immediately.
