The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Sunday placed opening statement against fugitive Syed Hasan Ali alias Hachen Ali.
Prosecutor Mohammad Ali placed opening statement against the Razakar leader from Kishoreganj and also placed a petition seeking corrections in formal charge instead of seeking permission to make the correction.
After the conclusion of opening statement, the tribunal set tomorrow to start recording the depositions of the prosecution witnesses.
The ICT-1 on September 15, through an order decided to initiate trial against Hasan in absentia and appointed advocate Abdus Shukur Khan to represent the accused before court.
On November 11, the tribunal indicted Hasan on 6 counts of crimes against humanity rejecting a discharge petition filed by the state-appointed defence counsel.
The investigation agency on June 29 presented the final report into investigation against Hasan, infamously known as ‘Razakar Daroga’ for his war time role, to the prosecution.
