Prosecution ends arguments against 9 Jessore Razakars

The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Tuesday concluded their part of arguments in the war crimes cases against nine Jessore Razakars including former Jamaat lawmaker Mawlana Sakhawat Hossain.
The other eight accused are Billal Hossain, Lutfor Morol, Md Ibrahim Hossain, Sheikh Md Mujibur Rahman, Md Abdul Aziz Sarder, Qazi Ohidul Islam alias Wahidur Salam, Md Aziz Sarder and Abdul Khalek Morol.
Of these, Lutfor, who was arrested died of cardiac arrest on May 6, 2016.Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman argued on factual matters, pleading for sentencing the accused for their monstrous acts in 1971. After the end of prosecution arguments, defence counsel Abdus Sattar Palowan started his part
of hearing.
At the end of yesterday’s session, Justice Anwarul Haque, chairman of the
three-member panel of the ICT-1, adjourned the hearing till today.
A total of 17 prosecution witnesses including investigation officer Abdur
Razzak Khan testified against the accused.
The first tribunal on December 23, 2015, indicted the accused framing five
charges of crimes against humanity.
