Prosecution continues arguing against Kamaruzzaman’s appeal

The prosecution in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuedday continued placing their arguments against the appeal lodged by Jamaat leader Mohammad Kamaruzzaman against the death sentence awarded to him by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2.
The four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha adjourned the hearing till today leaving it incomplete. The Appellate Division, however, asked the prosecution to conclude their arguments by tomorrow.
The appeal hearing initiated on May 18 and the defence concluded their part of arguments on September 9.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on May 9, 2013, awarded the assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami death penalty for his crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation.
Kamaruzzaman, filed the appeal with the Appellate Division on June 6, 2013.
