The treasury bench members on Wednesday said there is no negative criticism on the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2016-17 as it has been proved as a dependable economic tool for self-reliant Bangladesh in near future.
Taking part in a general discussion on the proposed budget for 2016-17, they said the government would be able to transform Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021 and developed country by 2041 by implementing the country’s first ever-biggest budget.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith placed the country’s first ever-biggest budget on June 2 for 2016-2017 targeting the GDP growth at 7.2 percent and delineating a set of programmes to transform the country into a role model of modern state by 2041.
During the discussion, they termed the budget highly ambitious and said the fiscal plan is a document of real development that has been continuously upgrading the life of common people when this government came to power again in 2009.
Hailing the new fiscal document, they said the allocation in the proposed budget should be use properly and it would boost the country’s economy further in education, power, agriculture, health, gas and other areas. Treasury bench member Tanvir Imam emphasized the need for intensive efforts to accelerate the development activities through new investments for creating jobs and raising the economy to a new height.
