Properties worth Tk 1 crore was gutted when a big fire broke out in Fulhata Bazar under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district in the early hours of Friday.
Locals said that the fire originated from a cloth shop named Adarsha Bastrolaya and Garments of the bazar at 4 am and went out of control within a moments. On seeing the flame of fire and haring the hue cry of the shopkeepers of the villagers rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for 2 hours. In spite of that the shop with cash Taka and all belongings including sharis, garments, laptops, cameras etc. were burnt to ashes. According Md. Nasir Uddin Hawladar, the owner of the gutted shop, the loss of fire is more than Taka one crore. Being informed of the matter Police of Morrelganj PS, local UP Chairman Ripon Talukdar and local Awami League leader Md. Fazlur Rahman Hawladar visited the place of occurrence. But the cause of fire could bet to be ascertained till the writing of the report. Md. Rashedul Alam, OC of Morrelganj PS disclosed, in this connection a case was lodged with the PS by the owner of the shop in the evening of Friday. BCL leader of Gournadi fined for entering in HSC examination center at Gournadi of Barisal.
