Properties worth Tk.6 lakh gutted in Sharankhola

Properties worth Tk.6 Lakh was gutted when a big fire broke out in Rayenda Bazar, Upazila headquarters of Sharankhola in Bagerhat district early in the morning of Monday, according to a report received here.
It is learnt from some eye-witness that just after the Azan (call for Namaj) for Fazar prayer was announced through mikes from the different mosques suddenly a fire that broke out in a grocery cum stationary shop belonging to one Chand Mia Talukdar at Sher-e-Bangla Road of Rayenda bazar, spread to its adjacent two other shops and went of out of control within moments. Being informed of the matter a unit of Sharankhola Fire Service rushed to the spot and after a long fighting for one haour the firemen brought the fire under control.
In spit of that some three shops-one belonging to Chand Mia Talukdar, 2nd to one Babul Hwladar and the 3rd one belonging to one Shahidul Khan were gutted almost completely with their all belongings. Shaikh Firouj Ali, Officer-in-charge of Sharankhola Fire Service Station, disclosed, the the originated from an electricity short circuit took place in the shop of Chan Mia Talukdar.
He added, the loss of fire was primarily estimated at Tk.6 lakh.
