A fire broke out in a labor colony in Ashulia, Savar. Seven houses were burnt in the fire. The hired workers have lost about Tk six lakh in this incident.
The fire broke out at around 7pm on Monday (May 23) in a labor colony owned by Matin Bhuiyan in Vadail area of Dhamsona union. A fire service unit tried for about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
Witnesses said a fire broke out in a room of the workers’ colony around 7 pm. In a short time, the fire spread to the surrounding rooms. Locals initially tried to control the fire. The fire was brought under control after about half an hour after informing the DEPZ Fire Service.
The fire service said a unit arrived at the scene as soon as the news was received. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Jihad, a DEPZ fire service warehouse inspector, said the fire was believed to have started from an electrical short circuit. About six lakh takas has been lost in this incident.
