Properties worth Tk.3 lakh was gutted when a fire broke out in a wooden dwelling house belonging to one Mofizul Islam (60) of village Chanderkhola under Kachua Upazil in Bagerhat district on Friday morning, according to a report received here. The victim house owner is a poor fruits-trader of Signnboard Bazar under the same Upazila.
It is learnt from the victim house owner that on the day he was alone in his house. So, at about 10 am he locked the door of the house and went the Bazar. But at about 11 am some one informed him over a mobile phone that his house had caught fire.
Then he rushed to the spot and tried to extinguish the fir with the help of the villagers and after a long fighting for half an hour they were able to bring under control. But in spite of that the dwelling house was gutted with all its belongings including cash Taka, freeze, electric motor, food grains and other valuables. As a result, the fruits-trader became a destitute. The cause of the fire could to be ascertained till the writing of this report. Zinat Mahal, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Kachua visited the place of occurrence and assured the victim house owner to give him financial support.
