BSS, Dhaka :
Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of the ruling Awami League, Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday demanded proper investigation and trial of the killers of Sohagi Jahan Tanu, a student of Comilla Victoria Government College.
“Terrorists don’t belong to any political party neither they have any particular opinion. Whoever might be involved in Tanu killing incident, he must be nabbed and put on trial expeditiously.
Besides, proper investigation into the killing and stringent legal action should be taken for the sake of establishment of the rule of law,” he said.
Dr Hasan Mahmud raised the demand while speaking at a public rally-cum-human-chain programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city. Jatiya Ganotantrik League (JGL) organised the programme protesting the recent murder of the college student and the series bomb attacks in Brussels in Belgium.
JGL president MA Jalil presided over the programme which also addressed, among others, by Dhaka City Awami League organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad, assistant secretary to Awami League sub-committee Advocate Balaram Poddar and freedom fighter Abdul Hye Kanu.
Dr Hasan Mahmud also requested police and the Home Ministry to immediately arrest the killers of Tanu and bring them to book.
Condemning the recent bomb blast incident in Brussels, the Awami League leader said, “International terrorism has been vitiating the air of the entire world.
But, it’s unfortunate to say that the BNP-Jamaat combine has sheltered international terrorism in the country.”
Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “Terrorists have their international network. This week’s terror attack incident in Belgium and the terror attack in Paris a few days back were all inter-oven.”
