Proper enforcement of consumers’ rights protection law stressed

The National Consumer Rights Protestion Day was observed in Sylhet. On this occasion, a discussion meeting was held in the Conference Room of the District Council at the joint initiative of National Consumer Rights Protection Sylhet, District Administration Sylhet and CAB Sylhet on Tuesday.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md. Mojibur Rahman presided over the discussion meeting and the Chief Guest was Sylhet Divisional Commissioner. Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain. He said that everyone should play a strong role in raising awareness about consumer and consumer rights. Everyone must be pure from their own position. There is no substitute for widespread awareness for this.
Special guests included Deputy Commissioner of Police of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Md. Faisal Mahmud PPM, Superintendent of Police of Sylhet Range DIG Office Zedan Al Musa, Senior Vice President of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce Falah Uddin Ali Ahmed, Organizing Secretary of CAB National Committee Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju and Jamil Chowdhury. Osmaninagar Upazila Parishad Chairman Alhaj Moinul Haque, eminent journalist and columnist Aftab Chowdhury, Sylhet Chamber of Commerce Director Ziaul Haque, prominent businessman Faizul Haque and Kamal Uddin Khan also spoke on the occasion. Dilwar Hossain, Salahuddin Bablu, Khaled Ahmed, Jasim Uddin, President of Sylhet Women’s Chamber Swarnalatha Roy and others.
At the beginning of the programme, Fakhrul Islam, Deputy Director of the Department of National Consumer Protection Sylhet gave a welcome speech.
Meanwhile, to mark the day, a day-long truck-show awareness jarigan has been distributed at various places in Sylhet metropolis and awareness leaflets and pamphlets have been distributed at various important points of the city. Besides, on the occasion of the day, a rally was taken out from the district council auditorium at 10 am on Tuesday with the participation of consumers, businessmen and dignitaries of the city. This time the theme of the day was ‘Fairness in Digital Financial System’.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj reports: The World Consumer Rights Day was observed in the country on Tuesday as elsewhere in the world with the theme ‘Fairness in Digital Finance’.
DNCRP, CAB including District Administration in Kishoreganj arranged a colour full rally, discussion, digital power prasetation and truk show marking the day.
Senior Police Super (SP) in Kishoreganj Mashrukur Rahman Khaled Bpm (Bar) attanded as chief guest while ADC (General) Nazmul Islam Sarker presided over.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Farzana Khanam, CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito were attended as special guests.
It was addressed among others by DNCRP AD Rehdoy Ronjon Bonik, Chamber president Mujibur Rahman Belal, former Chamber president and district Awami League leader Badal Rahman, Mohila Awami League district general secretary and Vice-president CAB Bilkis Begum, Mohila Parishad President advocate Maya Bhowmick, CAB district secretary Monowar Hossein Rony,and CAB leader Assistant Professor Samiul Haque Mollah.
DLO, Jail Super, DD in Agriculture and others dignified persons were also present.
 Sr. Police Super( SP) Mashrukur Rahman Khaled said enhancement of living standard of people along with economic uplift is important to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh within 2041. Any kinds of irregularity in purchase-sale of goods and service providing disrupt normal lifestyle of the people.
Directorate of Consumers Right Protection including CAB are working relentlessly to protect rights of consumers, which is very much praiseworthy, sr. SP Mashrukur Rahman Khaled added.
ADC (General) Nazmul Islam Sarker said, the government is very attentive in protecting consumers’ right to ensure civic rights of the people of Bangladesh keeping consistency with the developed countries.
ADM Farzana Khanam said that the Government formulated the Consumers’ Right Protection Act- 2009 and established Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection for successful implementation of the act, one of the indicators of improved civic life is the right to safe products and improved services.
CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito said the directorate would play an importance role to create amicable relations between businessmen and the consumers.  
She urged all businessmen and consumers to play responsible role side by side with becoming conscious about their rights.
DNCRP AD Rehdoy Ronjon Bonik said the use of digital technology in trade and commerce and services are increasing day by day due to constant development and expansion of information and communication technology.
Later, DNCRP including CAB arranged a colour full truck show rally marking the World Consumer Rights Day.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Enforcement of the Consumers Rights Protection Law has become an urgent need for ensuring safe food and protecting public health from various non-communicable diseases.
Many people are being infected by deadly diseases virus like cancer, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis and cardiac and kidney ailments through consumption of adulterated foods, so there is no way but to resist producing, possessing and selling contaminated foods.
The observation came at a discussion held at the conference hall of the Divisional Commissioner Office here on Tuesday.
The District Administration and the Department of National Consumers Rights Protection (DNCRP) jointly organised the discussion in observance of the World Consumers Rights Protection Day with the theme “Fairness in Digital Finance”.
Commissioner of Rajshahi Division GSM Zafarullah addressed the discussion as chief guest, while Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Abu Kalam Siddique and Additional Divisional Commissioner Dr Ziaul Haque spoke as special guests with Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil in the chair.
Superintendent of Police Abdus Salam, DNCRP Deputy Director Apurba Adhikary and President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Masudur Rahman also spoke.
The discussants viewed that the issue of the consumers’ rights is well accepted throughout the world and in the free market economy. So, awareness should be created among the businessmen and other concerns.
In the present context, ensuring reasonable prices of essential commodities and their supply to the buyer, protecting the interest of the e-commerce customer has emerged as a challenge that needs to be faced collectively.
The consumer should have the right to know about the quality of the commodities that they want to buy and they should also be able to buy them at reasonable prices.
Earlier, they opened the day by releasing balloons, banners and festoons in the sky.
