Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Saturday again denied the presence of militant outfit Islamic State (IS) in the country and said that a vested quarter was conspiring to make Bangladesh “dysfunctional” by smearing it with the name of Islamic State (IS).
“The propaganda about IS existence in the country is being carried out in a bid to divide the nation,” the minister said.
The minister detailed it while discussing with the Imams and the Muazzins of mosques of Kamrangirchar area in the capital on Saturday.
“Message goes to the USA from the Middle East within five minutes of occurrence of any incident in the country. Then an US website says that IS has claimed responsibility of the incident. There is no organisation naming IS in the country,” he said.
Food Minister Quamrul Islam also spoke at the programme and came down hard on the US, reportedly conspiring against Bangladesh.
“The USA itself is a sponsor of IS and militant outfits. The country is now telling that it would remain with Bangladesh to curb militancy here. It is a new conspiracy,” Quamrul said.
“You will be surprised to know that the conspirators are alive in Bangladesh,” he said.
