Promotion of inner tech, quality knowledge for dev stressed

Asking the researchers, teachers and the students for generating quality knowledge and better technology, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, the days to put eye on importing knowledge and technology from developed countries has gone and now-a-days we have to promote inner technology and quality knowledge for development.
‘We will no longer be importer rather exporter, if technology based education and fresh knowledge is prompted’ said Nurul Islam Nahid while addressing as the Chief Guest at jointly opening sessions of the newly enrolled students of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) here on Wednesday afternoon.
Terming the women civilian of the country as equal to the men, education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, women of Bangladesh has proven that they can, if they are provided equal opportunity as men did.
Referring the school scenario, he said all most 53% female students are studying in the secondary school level while male students are 47% and this scenario will be displayed in the highest level of the education sector soon, if we can uphold this trend.
With CVASU vice-chancellor Prof DrGoutuam Bhudda Das in chair, it was addressed by secondary and higher secondary education secretary Mohammad Soharab Hossain, UGC Prof DrMainul Islam as speaker of the opening session, Chittagong City former mayor ABM Mahiuddin Chowdhury, Fisheries faculty dean Prof Dr Mohammad NurulAbchar Khan as greeting speaker, Food Science and technology faculty dean Prof DrRaihan Faruq, Teachers’ Association president Goutam Kumar Debnath among others.
Earlier, Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the Bangabandhu memorial, the country’s only anatomy and the fisheries museums while Nahid said, the students can be acquainted with the history of the country through observing the memorial.
Prof DrMainul Islam as the speaker of the opening session said, it is matter of concern that Bangladesh among the south-east Asian countries, allowed the lowest budget in the education sector.
With the limited budget, it is not possible to turn the country to developed, adding after the liberation war and in the historic broken scarcity, Bangabadnhu allowed 20% of the budget in the education sector but the aftermath of 15th August the budget in education sector curtailed and still we can’t improve it.
ABM Mahiuddin Chowdhury said, we have achieved a sovereign country in 1971 after a 9-month long bloody war and your (students) duty now is to uphold the nation and turn it to developed country. Asking for guardians, teachers and students he said, you have to be awaked to uproot militancy.
Among others, Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury and University of Science and Technology (USTC) vice-chancellor PorfDrPrabhath Chandra Barua and University registrar Mirza Raruq Imam were present here.
