Senior bankers at a discussion unanimously said substantial and sustainable promotion of women entrepreneurship could be the effective means of ensuring women empowerment.
They viewed the women entrepreneurship is also important for boosting their income generating activities besides employment for many others.
They made the observation while giving loans among some women entrepreneurs at Local Principal Office of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) in the city Wednesday.
On the occasion, 12 women were given loans worth Taka six lakh at five percent interest rate for beef fattening.
RAKUB aging Director Awal Khan addressed the meeting as chief guest while Deputy Managing Director Nazrul Islam and General Manager (Operation) Sazammul Islam spoke as special guest Assistant General Manager Jagannath Ghosh in the chair.
Chief Guest Awal Khan said the present government has adopted diversified programmes for elevating living and livelihood condition of the womenfolk and urged the recipients for best uses of the borrowed money.
Empowerment of women has become an urgent need for their economic emancipation. So, the government had introduced diversified programmes for boosting women entrepreneurs.
He said the women entrepreneurs should seize every opportunity through the best uses of their trade-wise associations. Professional training could help women entrepreneurs realize these opportunities.
As a whole, he said, women, especially entrepreneurs, can progress only if the authorities concerned ease the way for them in launching their start-ups.
He, however, stated that women entrepreneurs have many problems and obstacles which should be removed on an urgent basis.
