Proma Abonti’s Odyssey dance recital at IGCC on Jan 9

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) is organising an evening of Odyssey dance recital by Proma Abonti at 6:00pm on January 9 at the IGCC Auditorium in the city’s Gulshan area.
Proma Abonti is an established Odyssey dance artist of Bangladesh who is the first artist in Bangladesh with institutional education of Odyssey dance form. She is an ICCR alumni and completed her MA in Odyssey dance from Rabindra Bharati University in India. She secured first class first position in both BA and MA. She has received the ‘Best Dancer Artist Award’ in 2011 for her contribution in promoting Odyssey dance form in Bangladesh from the prestigious Poushali Mukherjee Dance Academy in Kolkata.
Abonti established ‘Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre’ in 2001 for teaching Odissi dance form in Bangladesh. The centre follows the norm of renowned Padma Vibhushan Shree Kelucharan Mohapatra’s Odyssey dance style. In addition, it also promotes the teaching and learning of the original Tagore dance form.
