Two partnering organisations and PROKAS, a project of British Council in Dhaka, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Food Safety Governance.
Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), Consumers Association of
Bangladesh (CAB) and PROKAS signed the MoU recently to cooperate on need based scientific research, knowledge and evidence generation, capacity building of
actors and stakeholders as well as to organise campaign for food safety, good governance, consumer’s right and public health issues in Bangladesh. The signing ceremony was held at the PROKAS office in Baridhara,in the city.
President of CAB Ghulam Rahman, Executive Director of BCAS Dr Atiq Rahman and Team Leader of PROKAS (Promoting Knowledge for Accountable Systems) Gerry Fox and the relevant officials of the respective organisations were present on the occasion.
Dr Atiq Rahman, a renowned climate scientist and Executive Director of BCAS, thought that food safety is a major and emerging health concern in Bangladesh. So that the country needs scientific research on quality and safety of foods as well as advocacy and campaign for improving public health through food safety governance in Bangladesh.
