Project to improve child labour in dried fish sector

A contract has been signed between two development organizations to improve the existing child labour situation in the dried fish sector in Cox’s Bazaar.
The signing of Child Labour Improvements in Bangladesh (CLIMB) project of Winrock International and INCIDIN Bangladesh was held at a ceremony in the capital on Sunday.
AHM Zaman Khan, director of CLIMB project of Winrock International, and AKM Masud Ali, executive director of INCIDIN Bangladesh, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at the conference room of INCIDIN Bangladesh at Mohammadpur.
Other high officials of the two organizations were also present on the occasion.
INCIDIN, a national development organization working for ensuring rights of children, will implement the nine-month long project and conduct nationwide advocacy programme to achieve the project’s objective.
Under the project supported by US Department of Labour, necessary supports will be provided to the poor families in accessing to different financial services of the government. Steps would also be taken to include the children of poor families in skill development and education.  
Due to poverty, children of poor families work as labourers in the dried fish sector, which is considered as one of the worst forms of child labour. Works in such sector harm their physical, psychological and overall development.
