Progs undertaken to restore lost glory of film industry, JS told

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said the present government has undertaken various programmes for the promotion of creativity and production of quality films to restore the lost glory of the film industry.
He said this on Thursday while replying to a question of a treasury bench member Kamal Ahmed Majumder in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The information minister said the government has declared filmmaking as an industry to provide financial support to directors, producers and cinema hall owners for a sound development of the field.
Under the government’s ‘Digital Bangladesh’ programme, he said, digital technology has been introduced in BFDC at a cost of Taka 21 crore.
Under the direction of the Prime Minister, ‘Bangladesh Film and Television Institute’ has been established for producing skilled directors and staffs to make realistic and artistic movies to regain the lost glory of the silver screen and bring back audience to movie-houses, he added.
