The present government has taken various programmes for popularisation of the science and technology-based modern education among the youngsters to further accelerate national development.
Director General of National Museum for Science and Technology Swapan Kumar Roy said this on Thursday at the inaugural ceremony of a two-day Science and Technology Fair- 2017 at Zila Parisahd Community Centre in Rangpur as the chief guest.
The divisional administration under patronisation of the Science and Technology Welfare Trust is organising the fair to inspire young students in science and ICT-based education for more innovations befitting for the competitive 21st century.
Presided over by Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed, the chief guest formally inaugurated the fair by cutting ribbon in the colourful ceremony.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Minu Sheel, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Abdul Mazid and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman addressed the function as special guests.
The divisional and district level government officials, heads of different educational institutions and government departments, students, teachers, educationists, civil society members and elite were present.
Students of different secondary level educational institutions from allover Rangpur division have set up 28 stalls projecting different research activities, various scientific innovations and ICT-based digitised technologies at the fair.
The speakers said sustainable national development can be achieved without spreading science and technology- based education among the young generations at the present time in the competitive world.
Muhammad Wahiduzzaman said the common people are getting all government services quickly in a hassle-free manner from the Union Digital Centres and web portals at upazila and district levels by virtue of science and digitised ICT facilities.
