UNB, Dhaka :
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday said their programmes would be finalised ‘very soon’ to force the government to concede to their demand for immediately holding a fresh general election under a neutral caretaker government, without elaborating.
“In this regard, a meeting of the BNP standing committee will be convened soon which will be followed by another meeting of the BNP-led 20-party alliance. Then the programmes will be made public through the media,” he said while
talking to reporters at the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
Rizvi alleged that the government grabbed the state power without people’s mandate. “The ministers are making provocative statements losing their sense of balance.”
Pointing to the ministers, the BNP leader said, “You don’t have any connection with the people as you were not elected by them.”
He was very critical of the government’s attitude over their proposed movement, saying “If the government continues to run the country illegally through persecuting the party leaders and activists without conceding to our demands, BNP won’t sit idle.”
Assuring that their movement will be peaceful, Rizvi, however, warned that if the government applies coercion using the language of arms, then we’ll have no alternative but to take different means.”
