District administration, political parties and socio-cultural organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day in a befitting manner here on March 17 next.
The District Administration, Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies, Rangpur City Corporation, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela, District Information Office, Shishu Academy, Shilpokola Academy, Islamic Foundation, educational institutions and other organisations have taken day-long programmes to celebrate the day.
The programmes include placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, cake cutting, children’s gatherings and rallies, processions of underprivileged children, drawing, handwriting, essay and speech competitions, wall magazine, screening of documentary films on Bangabandhu, discussions and cultural functions.
Programs of the day will begin through placing wreaths at the Mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square and releasing balloons in the morning, district administration sources said.
Mayor of Rangpur, government officials, Muktijoddha Sangsad, politic parties and their associate bodies, educational institutions, NGOs, leaders of different socio-cultural, professional and political organisations will place wreaths.
A colourful procession will be brought out from Zila School ground by the district administration and later a discussion will be organized at Town Hall auditorium.
The local newspapers will publish special supplement marking the day, special munajat will be offered at the places of worships and improved diets be served among destitute.
The birth anniversary of Bangabandhu will also be observed through various programmes at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Medical College, Carmichael College, Rangpur Government College and other educational institutions in city.
BSS from Gaibandha says: District administration here took up elaborate programmes to celebrate the 99th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2019 in the district with due respect and festivity.
The day long programmes were adopted at a preparatory meeting of the district administration, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Health department, Islamic Foundation, Social Services Department, Jatiya Mohila Sangstha, Bangladesh Awami League, Press Club, and academic institutions including socio-cultural organisations.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Abdul Matin chaired the meeting held in the conference room of the district Collectorate Building here on Sunday.
The programmes include hoisting of national and party flags at the party offices of AL in the morning, placing floral wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu at the pour park, bringing out colorful rally, arrangement of art and good hand writing competition and prize distribution.
The programmes also include discussion meeting, holding milad and doa mahfil, offering special prayers at the mosques, temples and churches for the salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu, blood donation and cultural function side by side with serving improved diets to the inmates of the government shishu paribars.
Among others additional deputy commissioner (General) Rokhsana Begum, additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) Tofayel Hossain, General Secretary of district Awami League Abu Bakar Siddique, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, district unit, M. Shariful Islam Bablu, GS of Zila Shilpakala Academy Promotosh Saha were present in the meeting.
BSS from Khulna reports: Khulna District Administration and Khulna City and District Units of Awami League have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate March 17 the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2019.
Marking the day, leaders and workers of the party will place wreaths in front of the sculpture of Bangabandhu on Khulna Betar premises and a colorful procession will brought out from city’s New Market area and will end at Khulna Betar after parading through the streets.
Afterwards, a children gathering and a discussion meeting will be held at the auditorium of Khulna Women College.
Khulna Divisional Information Office will screen documentary films on the life of Bangabandhu at city’s Shaheed Hadis Park and Jatisangha Shishu Park.
Khulna Shishu Academy will organize an art and painting competition for children on the occasion.
Besides, Khulna city and district units of Awami League have also chalked out different programmes to observe the Historic March 7.
BSS from Rajshah adds: A ten-day Bangabandhu International Cultural Festival will begin at Green Plaza of City Bhaban here from March 17, the birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Large number of delegates and cultural personalities from various countries including India and Nepal are likely to attend the festival.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, who is chief patron of the festival, revealed this in a press conference at the City Bhaban conference hall here yesterday.
Festival Committee Convener Syed Abul Hossain and its Member Secretary Ariful Haque Kumar, former students adviser in Rajshahi University Prof Golam
Sabbir Sattar Tapu, regional coordinator of Bangladesh Gram Theater Kamarullah Sarker, Principal of Shahmukhdum Degree College SM Rejaul Karim
and its former principal Prof Aminur Rahman were present at the pressconference.
Liton says the coming 2020 is the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. “We have chalked out massive programmes to celebrate the
centenary and the international cultural festival,” he added.
Member of Bangabandhu Memorial Trust Poet Sheikh Hafizur Rahman will open the festival.
In addition to the green plaza’s programmes, main educational institutions in the city including Rajshahi University will arrange separate discussion
meetings during the festival. Besides, cultural functions will be held in four mass-gathering spots.
