Programme on Bangabandhu at IGCC tomorrow

Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) will organize a programme titled “Joy Bangla” on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tomorrow at its auditorium in city’s Gulshan.
In the programme, Dr Sahadat Hossain Nipu will recite and Dr Padmini Dey will sing, said a IGCC press release on Wednesday.
Dr Sahadat Hossain Nipu is an artist, director and researcher. He studied M.A in Rabindra Bharati University on ICCR scholarship and got his Doctorate from Bardhaman University. He was trained under famous theatre personalities in India Kumar Ray, Bivash Chakrovorty, and Manoj Mitra. He also got training
in Elocution from famous Indian elocutionist Pradip Ghosh in India.
He has produced 24 audio CD’s in Bangladesh and abroad. He has also written 16 books on Bengali theatre, Culture and theatre critique. He has also directed dramas on stage and TV channels. He is a special grade artist of Bangladesh Television and Betar. He has given recitation performances in Akashbani and Doodrashan in India also.
He is a trainer in elocution in Nazrul Institute and Bangladesh Shilpakala
Academy. He has received several awards in India, Rupashi Bangla Purashkar
2012, Swabhoomi Purashkar 2002, Atindra Sahitya Purashkar 2003. In Bangladesh
he has received Rishit Shah Cement Award 2003 etc. He is working as a Deputy
Director at Bangla Academy. He is also a life member of Bangla Academy.
Dr Padminee Dey at present is an Associate Professor of Rajshahi
University Department of Music. She got her Master’s Degree in Bengali Music
from Rabindra Bharati University and PhD as an ICCR Research scholar from
Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan. In Rabindra Bharati University, she
was awarded `Bani Bosu Smriti Padak’.
In Bangladesh, she got initial training on music from Ratan Adhikari and
Gopal Datta. In India, she took lessons in kheyal from Pandit Amyaranjan
Bandopadhya of Vishnupur gharana, traditional Bengali song from Chandidas
Maal, and Nazrulgeeti from Dr Brahmmamohan Thakur.
Dr Padminee Dey performed Nazrul sangeet and Adhunik Gaan for almost three
decades in Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. She has also given
solo performances in many national and international stages. An audio CD of
Bengali song named, `Tumi je Amaar’ has been published from Sangeeta, Dhaka,
Bangladesh.
All are cordially invited to attend the evening of recitation by Dr
Sahadat Hossain Nipu and songs by Dr Padmini Dey at 6:30 PM on Friday, August
28 at IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1.
Entry is open and no need to collect Invitation Pass. No bag would be
allowed within the IGCC premise during the programme.
