Chittagong Bureau :
A professor was killed in a road accident on Eidulpur bypass road in Sitakunda unpazila of the district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Joynul Abedin, 60, professor of Management Department at Sitakunda Bijoy Sarani Degree College, hailed from Syedpur village of the upazila.
Joynal, also a freedom fighter, was waiting for a vehicle to go to his college.
Quoting local sources, Sitakunda Thana Sub-Inspector Kamal Uddin told journal;lists that a Chittagong-bound stone-laden truck knocked Professor Joynul Abedin leaving him dead on the spot.
Police has handed over the body to the deceased’s family as they requested not to conduct any autopsy, SI added.
SI Kamal Uddin also said that they were trying to detain the driver who managed to flee the scene.
