The National Safe Road Day was observed with a befitting manner in Gopalganj yesterday. The theme of the day was “No livelihood before life, no more road accidents.”
District Administration and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Gopalganj Circle jointly organised the programme.
On the occasion of the day, they brought out a colourful procession and chanting slogan. The procession paraded main roads in the city. The high officials of district administration, all official staffs of BRTA department,roads&highway department (RHD),teachers students,political leaders and local elites were attended the procession.
After procession, a discussion meeting was held at district administration office conference room premises in Gopalganj.
Mohammad Eliasur Rahman, District Additional Magistrate,Gopalganj presided over the discussion metting where, Abdullah Al Baki,additional deputy commissioner (Edu , ICT) Gopalganj presented as the chief guest.Mahabub Ali Khan,general secretary,district AL,K.M. Shariful Alam, Executive Engineer, RHD Gopalganj, Md. Shakirul Islam, Sub-divisional Engineer, RHD, Gopalganj and Subir Kumar Saha, Assistant Director (BRTA) Gopalganj spoken on the occasion.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj reports: Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Road and Highways Division (RHD) jointly arranged a colourfull rally, discussion, handbills distribution, documentary film and cultural function marking the National Road Safety Day yesterday .
This year’s theme of the day is ‘Jiboner Age Jibika Noy, Sarak Durghatana Ar Noy.
A discussion meeting was held at lcoal collectorate Staff Club Auditorium yesterday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury and Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) were attended as chief guest and special guest while ADM Md. Golam Mostafa in the chair.
It was addressed among others by RHD Executive Engineer Rashidul Alam (as special guest), CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, its Secretary Monowar Hossein Rony, Sanak Convenor Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Road Transport Owners Association Convenor Lelin Royhan and Women Leader Bilkis Begum.
DC Sarowar Morshed Chowhdury said that, ensuring road safety is not the responsibility of the government on drivers alone as all will have to come up to deal with it.
Police Super (SP) Mashrukur Rahman Khaled said the awareness of pedestrians as well as that of drivers is very much important.
CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito said that put emphasis on preventing had competition on roads an uncontrolled speed of vehicles to end accident.
Later, a colourfull rally brought out in the town led by SP Mashrukur Rahman Khaled marking the day.
BSS from Khulna adds: The 3rd “National Road Safety-2019” was observed in the city yesterday in a befitting manner as different organizations took elaborate programmes to mark the day.
Bangladesh Road and Transport Association (BRTA) Khulna Circle organised the programmes in cooperation with Khulna District Administration.
This year’s theme of the day is: ‘Jiboner Age Jibika Noy, Sarak Durghatana Ar Noy’ (Livelihood is not before life, no more road accident).
Government officials at a post-rally discussion here yesterday laid emphasis on ensuring safe driving, professional skill of drivers and obeying traffic rules for reducing road accidents.
They viewed this at the meeting at Deputy Commissioners’ Conference Room in observance of the 3rd “National Road Safety Day-2019”.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Magistrate (ADM) Md.
Yousuf Ali in the chair.
Additional Divisional Commissioner Nischinta Kumar Poddar, general secretary of ‘Nirapad Sarak Chai’ Iqbal Hossain Biplob, addressed the meeting, among others.
KCC Mayor alleged that lack of awareness and non-compliance of traffic rules are main reasons behind road accidents.
He blamed the public representatives for not taking action against huge number of factories which manufactured illegal three wheelers locally.
The speakers said inadequate skill of some drivers, faulty vehicles, roadside hat-bazaars, violation of traffic rules and using mobile phones while driving are the main reasons behind road accidents.
The chief guest suggested drivers, supervisors, helpers and transport workers to properly know the reasons behind road accidents and behave accordingly for reducing the extent of road accidents by ensuring safe driving on the roads and highways.
Earlier, a rally participated by officials, drivers, supervisors, conductors, right activists, leaders of road transport workers and owners’ associations, rover scouts and students was brought out Shaheed Hadis Park and paraded different main streets in the city.
