Dr Mohammad Shafi, honorary Professor of the Department of Fisheries of Dhaka University (DU), donated Taka 30 lakh for development of infrastructure, education and research of the department.
In this regard, he handed over a cheque for Taka 30 lakh to DU treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin on Wednesday at a function held at the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) office of the university.
VC Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Biological Sciences Faculty Prof Md Imdadul Haque, Chairman of the Department of Fisheries Prof Kaniz Fatema and departmental teachers were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Prof Shafi also donated Taka 40 lakh to the DU Fisheries Department for construction works of a floor.
Prof Arefin thanked Prof Shafi for his kind donation for overall development activities of the Fisheries Department.
The DU VC hoped that other rich people of the society would be inspired by Prof Mohammad Shafi in providing help and cooperation to the Dhaka University.
