Eminent writer, researcher, historian and retired professor of History Department of Dhaka University Dr Ratan Lal Chakraborty passed away in the early hours of Tuesday. He was 71. He breathed his last at city’s Popular Medical College Hospital around 1:40am after testing positive for Covid-19. Ratan Lal was cremated at Postagola Mahashasman in the capital on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
In a condolence message, Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Professor Ratan Lal.
