Prof Md Nurul Alam has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) for the next four years.
A notification, signed by Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Education Md. Mahmudul Alam, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.
According to Article 11 (1) of the Jahangirnagar University Act 1973, the Chancellor of the university, President Abdul Hamid, appointed Prof Nurul Alam as Vice Chancellor of the university, said the notification.
Nurul Alam is a professor of the Department of Physics at the university. He had served as the Pro-VC (Education) of the University since August 14, 2016.
Earlier, on August 12, Prof Amir Hussain, Prof NurulAlam and Prof Ajit Kumar Majumdar have won the VC Panel election held at Jahangirnagar University, reports BSS.
Prof NurulAlam was the three-time president of Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) and dean of mathematical and physical science faculty. Born in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka in 1957, he joined the university in 1982.
