Professor M Maniruzzaman Miah, a noted educationist and former vice chancellor of Dhaka University, died on Monday at a city Hospital. He was 81.
Miah, who had long been suffering from old-age complications, breathed his last at Square Hospital around 12 noon, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night as his condition sharply deteriorated.
A confirmed bachelor, Miah served as vice chancellor of Dhaka University from March 24, 1990 to October 31, 1992.
Family sources said he will be buried at Banani Graveyard on Tuesday. –Dhaka, June 13 (UNB)
