Professor Khaled was the conscience of the nation. During the war of liberation, Professor Khaled used to be a journalist on the one hand and inspire people on the other hand He was one of the framers of the constitution of Bangladesh.
Awami League presidium member Engineer Mosharraf Hossain MP made the remarks at a memorial meeting on the occasion of the 18th death anniversary of Professor Khaled, former editor of the daily Azadi, at the Abdul Khaleq Engineer Hall of the Chattogram Press Club at on Saturday last. Speaking as the chief guest, he said the Sheikh Hasina government has given him the country’s highest independence Award for his unique contribution to the liberation war.
I also received the Independence Medal on the same day.
It is also an honor for me to receive the Independence Award together with Professor Khaled. He was an ideal leader of Awami League till his death and was a true follower of Bangabandhu. Engr. Mosharraf also said . after the assassination of Bangabandhu, we were in the same hall in the MP hostel. After hearing about the assassination of Bangabandhu, I went to Professor Khaled’s room with tears.
He told me to be patient at the juncture of the country. Abu Sufian, convener of the organization and former president of Chattogram Press Club, presided over the memorial meeting organized by Professor Mohammad Khaled Memorial Council
