Former Professor of the Anthropology Department of Dhaka University (DU) Dr Helal Uddin Khan Shamsul Arefin died on Saturday.
He is survived by one son and one daughter to mourn his death, a DU release said.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique expressed profound shock at the death of Prof Helal Uddin.
He also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and convoyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
