Nilphamari’s one of the most reputed Textile Mill has begun to produce yarn again. Minister for Culture Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the production of yarn in the evening on Monday.
During this, the minister said, the Government has a plan to mobilize the state-owned factories which are closed and take them to the profitable level. As part of that, initiatives have been taken to produce yarn in the Darawani Textile Mill.
Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation Chairman Brigadier General Mahbub Ahmed Zakaria, District Commissioner Mohammad Khaled Rahim, Zilla Parishad Chairman Zainul Abedin, Superintendent of Police Zakir Hossain Khan, Deputy General Manager (Board and Law) of BTMC Kazi Firoz Hossain, Deputy General Manager of Daroyani Textile Mill, Mujibur Rahman, Owner of RK Yarn Trading of Narayanganj Gopal Chandra Saha, District Awami League president Mayor Dewan Kamal Ahmed, Awami League General Secretary Mamtajul Haque, Upazila Parishad Chairman Abujar Rahman, Vice-Chairman Arifa Sultana Lovely were present in the inaugural ceremony.
BTMC Chairman Brigadier General Mahbub Ahmed Zakaria said, “In private public partnership, initiatives have been taken to open 16 mills which are closed in the country. All preparations have been completed to reopen three of them within December. The rest will be started in phases.
Mujibur Rahman, Deputy General Manager of the Mill said that RK Yarn Trading of Narayanganj has taken the Mill in rent of three years for the production of yarn. Culture Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the yarn production work.
According to the sources, the mill was introduced on April 25, 1980. Since then, it has played a significant role in producing quality yarn. At that time, 704 workers, 97 employees and 25 officers were engaged in the work. The production was stopped in 1995 due to heavy losses.
