Sugar production in Rangpur Sugar Mills Limited (RSML) at Mohimaganj under Gobindaganj Upazila in the district began on Friday.
A simple function in this connection was held on the premises of the mills in the afternoon with its managing director M. Abdul Khaleque in the chair.
Principal Abul Kalam Azad MP addressed the function as the chief guest and deputy commissioner M. Ehsan-e-Elahi and police super Mofazzel Hossain were present as special guests.
The inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by UNO Mamun-ul-Hasan, local union parishad chairman Abdul Latif Prodhan, and president of RSML sugarcane growers association Zinnat Ali Prodhan.
