The International Migrants Day was observed on Wednesday in the district in a befitting manner.
Kishoreganj District Employment, Manpower office including district administration organized a colourfull rally, discussion, documentary film, prize and cheque distributing among the students and trainers marking the International Migrants Day on Wednesday.
A discussion meeting was held at local collectorate conference room on Wednesday morning.
Deputy Secretary, Deputy Director of Local Government Md. Abdullah attended as chief guest while Assistant Director Employment Directorate Md. Ali Akbar presided over the meeting.
Additional District Magistrate Md. Golam Moftafa and Senior ASP Mahabubul Haque Sajib were attended as special guest.
It was addressed among others by Principal Md. Haroon-al-Mamun of Techinical Traing Center, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Islami Bank Limited Vice-President Md. Mosle Uddin, Assistant Director of Passport & Imegration Md. Anisur Rahman, Magistrate Galib Mohamud and Shamim Ahamed. Later, a colourfull rally brought out in the town marking the day.
BSS from Rangpur reports: Government officials here at a post-rally discussion today stressed on producing skilled workforce and their safer migration to increase remittance inflow with honour and dignity.
They opined this at the discussion jointly organised by the district administration and District Employment and Human Resources Office at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner in observance of the International Migrants Day-2019.
Earlier, a rally participation with the government and NGO officials, returned expatriates, relatives of expatriates, overseas jobseekers, students, teachers and civil society members was brought out on the streets.
Joint Director of Rangpur Branch of Bangladesh Bank Mukul Chandra Dutta Mohanta attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Syed Enamul Kabir in the chair.
Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Ujjal Kumar Roy, Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kabir, Manager (Operations) of Rangpur Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited Abu Kawser Talukder addressed as special guests. Expatriate Bangladeshi Rakibul Islam shared his experience and suggested
overseas jobseekers for becoming skilled workforce before going abroad to earn more wages and live with dignity.
Assistant Director of District Employment and Manpower Office Amena Parveen delivered a welcome speech.
“The present government has taken steps for enhancing skills and expertise of overseas jobseekers by imparting training and ensuring their safer migration, welfare, rights, dignity, honour and justice both at home and abroad,” she said.
The chief guest stressed on proper utilisation of the population dividend by turning youths into skilled workforce before sending them abroad following appropriate rules and procedures to ensure their better wages and safety.
“The expatriate Bangladeshis are contributing to strengthening of the national economy along with marinating the increasing trend of remittance inflow,” he said and stressed on ensuring appropriate facilities for them at home and abroad.
Later, he distributed prizes among the winner students of different competitions and giving crests to the highest remittance senders and their relatives of the district.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers at a post-rally discussion on Wednesday said that necessary support from the community and other stakeholders can be vital means to make the government efforts of ensuring safe migration of workers successful.
They observed that the present government has been working relentlessly for promoting safe, regular and responsible migration for the benefit of all concerned.
District administration and Employment and Manpower office jointly organised the discussion at Shishu Academy auditorium in the city marking the International Migrants Day.
Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque and Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shahidullah addressed the discussion as the chief and special guests respectively with Additional Deputy Commissioner Shariful Haque in the chair.

The discussants underscored the need for proper and effective measures for the rehabilitation of the trafficked victims alongside their family’s integration and reintegration.
There is also a need of strengthening the mechanism and capacities of relevant stakeholders to reduce the impact of forced migration, the speakers said.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Hannan said the government has taken initiatives to send competent manpower abroad alongside finding out new overseas job markets for boosting foreign remittance earning.
Around 3,500 people, both male and female, from Rajshahi district have acquired jobs abroad including the Middle East countries this year.
Prior to their departure, the people were given six-month training on general electronics, architectural drafting with AutoCAD, dress-making and embroidery, dyeing, printing and block boutique, fruit processing and preservation.
