Procrastination of decision, BSC facing unbearable loss

MV Banglar Doot, an ocean going vessel of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has been remain idle since November last .
Sources said , in the last 3 years, BSC faced loss of Tk 15 cr for different purpose of the vessel and if the vessel remains idle, atleast Tk one crore will have to spend per month .
 The authority of BSC is suffering from uncertainty whether the vessel will be put in service or to sold out to avoid from further loss the public sector flag carrier. Lack of decision and procrastination of taking decision by the concerned authorities, the load of losses are gradually increasing day by day, conscious circles observed.
Conscious quarters opined BSC sold out the old vessel and to procure new one will help to facilitate the national income of public sector body. Port users sources said lack of update international class certification as per International Maritime Mercentile Organisation, ocean voyage of the Banglar Doot remained suspended from November last.
Sources said to renew the international Class certificate from IMO, it needs renewal of different types of 40 fitness certificates which will cost about Tk.7 crores but at this stage BSC is unable to incur huge amount for the purpose.
