UNB, Savar :
Separate police bodies investigating the killing of an industrial police constable visited the place of occurrence on Thursday.
They talked to the locals and witnesses and collected CCTV footages from roadside buildings from Baroipar to Chakrabarty, said officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station Mohsinul Quader. He said a three-member inquiry committee, headed by Additional DIG (Admin) of Dhaka Range Md Shafiqul Islam, went to the spot to investigate the killing.
Another probe body formed by the industrial police and a special team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), led by its SP Mostafa Kamal, also visited the spot and gathered evidence, the OC said.
Meanwhile, police filed a case against two unidentified people on Thursday afternoon in connection with the incident. Besides, seven people detained for interrogation over the incident were released after primary interrogation. On the other hand, stringent security measures have been taken in the industrial belt of Ashulia following the killing of the policeman in a sudden attack on a check-post at Baraipara in Ashulia on Wednesday.
At least 15 police check-posts have been set up at different points of Savar and Ashulia as part of the security, Quader said. The OC also said sub-inspector Habib of his police station was closed to Rajarbagh Police Lines for negligence of duty during the incident. Besides, three on-duty policemen, who took shelter in a nearby jungle instead of taking action during the attack, have been kept under surveillance.
On Wednesday, police constable Mukul Hossain was killed and another injured as some unidentified miscreants made a sudden attack on them and hacked them indiscriminately at Sripur industrial police camp.
