Probe report on Biman ‘hijack’ bid submitted

The probe committee formed by the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry on Wednesday submitted its report on the “plane hijacking” attempt incident at Chattogram airport on February 24.
Chief of the five-member probe body Md Mokabbir Hossain, also Additional Secretary of the ministry, submitted the report to the ministry in the afternoon, confirmed Civil Aviation Secretary Mohidul Haque.
Replying to a query about what is in the report, the official said, he has not seen it yet.
 “State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali is currently abroad. It is expected that after return, he would hold a press briefing for disclosing the details of the probe report,” he said.
On February 25, Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry formed the probe committee to investigate the “plane hijacking” incident at Chattogram airport.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Biman Bangladesh
Airlines made an emergency landing at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport in the evening of February 24 after Polash Ahmed, a passenger of the flight, tried to hijack the plane.
He was killed later in an eight-minute operation by members of the army’s para-commando unit.
