Rana Plaza tragedy: Probe report on 2 cases March 8

A Dhaka court on Sunday once again fixed March 8 for submission of the investigation report in two cases filed in connection with the collapse of Rana Plaza, that killed 1,132 people and injured several hundred on April 24 in 2013.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Dhaka set the new date as Assistant Superintendent of Police Bijoy Krishna Kar of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the probe report on Sunday also.
A total of three cases were filed about the incident and one each was filed by Savar Police Station, Rajuk and one of the victim’s family.
A preliminary report was submitted on September 18 last year which says that depositions of 952 witnesses have been recorded. Twenty people were nabbed in the cases. The authorities sought Government permission to submit the charge sheet against 13 Government employees. However, permission have been received about six of them. They are awaiting permission for six more employees.
The nine-storied Rana Plaza collapsed killing more than one thousand people and injuring many more, mostly garment workers in the most devastating factory incident in the country.
