The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Sunday) fixed February 24 for submitting the probe report in an embezzlement case filed against seven people including former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon.
Magistrate Shahidul Islam fixed the new date for submitting the probe report as the investigation agency, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) could not submit the report although it was scheduled to be submitted on Sunday.
The other accused in the case are former Chief Revenue Officer of the DSCC Yusuf Ali Sarker and former Deputy Assistant Engineers Majed, Kamrul Hasan, Helena Akter, Atikur Rahman Swapan and Walid. According to the case statement, the then Mayor Khokon and the other accused embezzled crores of money cheating some small businessmen under the pretext of allotting them shops at Fulbaria Supermarket-2.
Delwar Hossain Delu, President of the Shop Owners’ Association, filed the case on December 29 last year.
