Brandishing arms: Probe report against BCL men now on April 15

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday deferred the date for submission of the investigation report in the case filed against some DSCC employees and some youths for brandishing firearms during a hawker eviction drive in Gulistan
area of the city on October 27, in 2016. Magistrate Ahsan Habib of the CMM court fixed April 15 for submission report of the case, as Shahbagh Police Station SI Emranul Islam, who is also the investigation officer of the case, did not submit the report on Tuesday.
On October 27, 2016, there was a clash in Gulistan area when a Dhaka South City Corporation team launched a campaign to evict illegal makeshift shops from the pavements and underpass market area. Ten people including two City Corporation employees were injured in the incident.
Later, Shahbagh Police Station SI Md Abdul Mannan filed a case accusing two and 50 to 60 unnamed persons of ‘attempt to murder’ on October 31 of the same year. The two accused persons are- general secretaries of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Dhaka South and Wari Police Station units- Md Sabbir Hossain and Md Ashiqur Rahman respectively.
